Sheridan College collective bargaining information

Sheridan College is the epicentre for ground-breaking, standard-setting higher education that empowers people to help shape an ever-changing world. Our mission is to cultivate highly skilled, creative and resourceful people and communities through collaboration, active learning and the relentless incubation of new ideas.

Sheridan is one of 24 colleges in Ontario, Canada. All 24 colleges in the province are regulated by the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) Act. Given that the 24 colleges are governed under the same piece of legislation, their unionized employee groups also share collective agreements. The College Employer Council (CEC) is the government-mandated bargaining agent for Ontario’s 24 publicly funded colleges in negotiating collective agreements with unionized staff. OPSEU is the union that represents Ontario’s college employee groups.

Collective agreements vary in length, terms and conditions, depending on the bargaining unit. They all take place in accordance with rules set out by the Ontario Labour Relations Act.
